Modern Life and the Lack of Posture Support

There is one thing that stands out when it comes to modern life, increasingly more people are suffering from neck and back pain. It is believed that at least half of the western population will suffer pain in these areas at some point in their life. Is this a new phenomenon, or is it something that has been going on for centuries? Well, we know that pain in these areas was treated in ancient Egypt, due to the records they kept.Portrait of business woman with back pain in office

However, what we do know is that due to the lifestyle that modern humans now live, it is far more prevalent. One of the main reasons for this is lack of proper posture support.

The modern age in which we live has taken away a lot of the manual work that we used to do. More and more of us spend our working day sitting at a desk, and without the proper posture support, it forces our spines into positions it never evolved to be in for long periods of time. When manual work was the norm, it was not unusual for a person to get the odd twinge in their back, but it was a surprise that so many recent sufferers happen to be the ones who sit on their backside all day.

Another problem is that modern day furniture has been designed with comfort and looks in mind, and often has no posture support consideration at all. This means that many people spend their entire day being in a position that constantly puts pressure on the spine. It is more than likely that the trend of this problem will continue in an upward direction, as technology continues to advance. We cannot deal to some advanced material to maintain our good posture, but somehow try to do exercise and do the proper sitting and standing position. By having discipline and self-conscious, you are totally looking confident inside and out.
